THE SITE

Located northeast of the City of Eagle Lake, across from Highway 14 and between CR 27 and Eagle Lake South, this site is currently zoned agricultural, not industrial as some have implied.  According to the Finding of Fact the zoning they are looking at for this particular project is Planned Unit Development (PUD).

From the Findings of Fact the following were replies to submitted concerns/questions:

"Decades of agriculture onsite have prevented wildlife habitat from existing and have degraded wetlands that exist."

"The project area is mostly comprised of agricultural land which does not provide high quality habitat for wildlife species, however land that is not being converted to track or buildings/parking areas will be planted in natural "prairie" vegetation where possible."

"The project, and surrounding area, is comprised primarily of agricultural land.  Additionally, Eagle Lake has been identified as key resource for wildlife habitat and vegetation and measures to minimize impacts to this waterbody will be incorporated during the final design process and permitting."

Submitted comment: "Artistic renderings shared by the developer make it look like a prison complex more than anything."  Response: Any structure built will be aesthetically pleasing and will be accompanied by other ornamental type plantings including trees and natural prairie grasses.
